What moves the price
OPEC+
Production decisions by OPEC and its allies are the heaviest supply factor.
US inventories
The weekly EIA report on crude and gasoline stocks moves the price: larger-than-expected builds tend to weigh on it.
Global demand
Growth in China, the US and Europe, and the summer driving season, change consumption.
Geopolitics
Conflicts in producing regions or shipping routes can lift crude on supply-disruption risk.
The dollar
A stronger dollar makes oil more expensive for the rest of the world and can reduce demand.
